Visser’s Florist started in 1951 when award-winning floral designer Bill Visser decided to sell his flower shops in holland and move to California. He arrived in LA in 1952 and worked at Cedric’s Florist shop. In 1956, Visser heard that Walt Disney had picked the City of Anaheim for Disneyland Park, so he decided that Orange County was the place to be.
One of Visser’s first stops was Macres Florists, Mary Macres (owner) decided to sell him her flower shop. He operated Macres Florsits for five years until 1961 when Visser built his ultra-modern flower shop right across the street from scratch. He first bought the building and then several surrounding houses to create the 12,000-square-foot floral landmark that Visser’s Florist and Greenhouses is today.
Nowadays, Visser’s Florist and Greenhouses is the biggest flower shop/greenhouse in Orange County, with thousands of plants and flowers, 39 employees, and two fully stocked greenhouses.
