Take your sweetheart under the sea this Valentine’s Day at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Located in nearby Long Beach, you can meet baby penguins, check out the new frog exhibit, spend time at the archerfish exhibit, and attend one of the many lectures and special events—many held in both English and Spanish. Special group discounts are available.
The aquarium is open 364 days per year from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. However, arrive early and on a weekday if you largely want this impressive space to yourself. General admission is $29.95 for adults and $17.95 for children. You can also add on a behind the scenes tour, blue whale and sea life cruise, harbor tour, Queen Mary/Diana exhibition pass, L.A. Zoo admission, and Natural History Museum admission for an additional discounted fee.
A Walk on the Wild Side
One of the most popular add-ons is the behind the scenes tour, where you can get a peek into what it takes to keep such a massive operation running smoothly. You’ll be taken above and beyond the tropical reef, feed the fish, and get a splash encounter on the “wet side” of the aquarium. With over 11,000 animals at the aquarium, it’s the best way to make the most of your trip.
In addition to general admission, you might want to check out one of the day camps or scout programs for the kids, the teen program, or talk with an events coordinator to plan a party at the aquarium that’s sure to make a big splash. There are always new exhibits and happenings, so visit the official site for more information.
