A popular half and full marathon event, Cruise the Coastline takes place April 8 starting in nearby Long Beach. Choose from a full, half, 5k or 10k option along the incredible beach pathways. That ocean breeze, unbelievable view, and sunrise kickoff with a number of drinking stations along the way make for a peaceful race.
Full/half participants start at 6:30am, while the 5k/10kers head out at 7:30. Parking is free on East Ocean Boulevard but limited during this beloved event. Instead, using the pay parking area at $1 per hour can be more convenient. The out-and-back course is doubled for the half marathon and quadrupled for the full marathon.
Beach, Please
As one of the most affordable marathons in the country, the full entry price is just $55. Also, unlike other marathons, it’s not highly competitive to enter. In fact, last minute registrations may be possible (although it’s always a good idea to register as soon as you can). Spectators are encouraged to cheer on the runners.
There’s no better start to a Saturday morning than a sunrise at the beach, a cool breeze, and discovering just what makes running in southern California so special. Register now, or start planning your morning picnic as you root on the runners.
