It’s almost Memorial Day, and that means a variety of organizations around Anaheim are preparing to remember those who served. Close to your Anaheim hotel, the Anaheim Cemetery Memorial Day begins at 11 a.m. Brought to you by the Orange County Cemetery District, three Anaheim cemeteries will be hosting events: Anaheim Cemetery, El Toro Memorial Park, and the Santa Ana Cemetery. Wreath presentation and a gun salute takes place at 1400 E. Sycamore Street.
Head to nearby Fullerton for The Greatest Generation and US Marines Saluted in Fullerton service. The event is free and especially honors visiting veterans. Paying homage to World War II veterans, dubbed The Greatest Generation, the activities start at 10 a.m. at Loma Vista Memorial Park, located at 701 E. Bastanchury Road.
A Weekend to Remember
Huntington Beach hosts a special Memorial Day celebration at the Huntington Beach Pier Plaza. You’ll find it at the corner of Main Street and the Pacific Coast Highway. The event starts at 11 a.m. and is brought to you by a collaboration of local non-profits. The highlights include the playing of “Taps,” a 21-gun salute, and flag-raising ceremony.
Another beach option is Dana Point for the Veterans of War Memorial Day Event at 10 a.m. Every year, attendees head to Pines Park at Capistrano Beach where World War II and Korean veterans are especially honored. Flowers are placed on the graves of fallen soldiers as part of the annual event, located at 34941 Camino Capistrano.
