Whale Watching Season Begins!

Disneyland Hotel Whale

Newport Beach whale watching season begins January 1 with a special $16 entry. The gray whale begins the longest major migration of all marine mammals this season, with several thousand whales migrating along Newport Beach. Returning from the Baja California lagoon through April, it’s common to see at least five whales on an average cruise.

You might also spot humpback whales, finbacks and minke whales along with many types of dolphins. Newport Bay is home to one of the largest protected areas for marine life in southern California, offering a thriving ecosystem. There are more than 15 miles of sanctuary, and marine animals know this is their sanctuary.

Get on Board

From Newport to Laguna Beach, your vessel will whisk you along the popular migration route offering the best opportunities for spotting and photographing whales and dolphins. Plus, it’s one of the most stunning areas in this part of California.

Get your tickets online or by calling 949-675-0551. This is one January tradition you won’t want to miss, especially since February is peak season for the migration back from winter. Where will your Anaheim vacation take you? If it doesn’t include a migration whale-watching tour, you’re not experiencing the real southern California.
